Haiti / Insecurity: Armed men attack the Séguin neighborhood, the police station is set on fire, at least 6 bodies reported

Heavily armed individuals terrorized the Séguin neighborhood, located in the hills above Pétion-Ville at the entrance to the Commune of Jacmel, early Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026, around 4:00 AM.

According to testimonies gathered from residents, the assailants targeted the local police station, which they set ablaze after storming it. A police vehicle present at the scene was also destroyed by fire. Six people were killed by the criminals in the armed attack against the civilian population.

According to residents, the police officers assigned to the station abandoned their positions in the face of the bandits' assault, leaving the area open to the attackers.

This attack comes amid a continuing deterioration of the security situation in several regions of the country, where armed groups are intensifying their actions against public institutions and law enforcement.

For the time being, no official figures have been released regarding any additional casualties or material losses.

The authorities are expected to address this matter in order to provide clarification and reassure the population, which is increasingly concerned by the rise in insecurity.
