In Haiti, the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) Mobilized to Intensify the Fight Against Armed Groups

Meeting

Port-au-Prince, April 1, 2026 – Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé chaired a strategic meeting of the expanded Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) at the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday. The meeting brought together the highest security authorities of the State to intensify the response against armed groups.

The government's determination is absolute: to restore law and order, protect the population, and regain control of the national territory. The State is committed to a process of reconquest.

In this context, the government announces the arrival in Haiti of the Special Representative of the Gang Repression Force (GSF), Jack Christofides, accompanied by an advance team, including Chadian contingents, marking the beginning of the expanded deployment of this multinational mission.

Deployed at the request of the Haitian government and authorized by the United Nations Security Council, this force will support national authorities in conducting targeted operations against armed groups, securing strategic routes and essential infrastructure, and protecting civilian populations, while respecting human rights and the rule of law.

The operation is based on close cooperation with the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H), with the support of international partners. Ultimately, several thousand personnel will be deployed to sustainably strengthen the State's response capabilities.

The Haitian government expresses its gratitude for this crucial international support in the fight against insecurity.

Furthermore, the government extends its sincere condolences to the people of Artibonite, particularly in the town of Jean-Denis, who have been severely affected by gang violence, and reaffirms its full solidarity.  The perpetrators of these acts will be actively pursued and tracked by law enforcement until they are apprehended.

The authority of the State is now being exercised firmly. It is moving forward, taking action, and asserting itself to permanently restore security throughout the national territory.
