On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Haiti and Japan, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid tribute to the strength of the bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation that have united the two nations since the official resumption of their relations in 1956.

In his address, the Head of Government emphasized the historical and symbolic significance of this anniversary, while reaffirming the Haitian authorities’ commitment to consolidating and deepening this exemplary partnership. In this context, he expressed his hope that Japan's support would continue and intensify, particularly in efforts to sustainably restore security within the country.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to revitalize bilateral economic and trade relations, elevating them to the level of excellence of the existing political dialogue. In this regard, he encouraged greater involvement of the private sectors in both countries in structuring public-private partnerships, capable of fully leveraging opportunities for cooperation.

Furthermore, he called upon civil society actors to continue and intensify their initiatives to strengthen human and cultural ties, which are essential for deepening relations between the two peoples.
Alongside the ceremony, a memorandum of understanding on diplomatic training cooperation was signed between the foreign ministries of the two countries, represented respectively by Raina Forbin for Haiti and Toshimitsu Motegi for Japan, demonstrating a shared commitment to strengthening institutional capacities and bilateral dialogue.
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC), in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Haiti, this commemoration also highlighted the significant progress made in various key sectors, including agriculture, health, education, and culture, as well as Japan's ongoing support for multilateral initiatives promoting gender equality in Haiti.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister commended Japan's unwavering commitment to Haiti, particularly in efforts to foster a secure environment conducive to holding credible, inclusive, and transparent general elections—an essential condition for strengthening the rule of law and pursuing sustainable development for the benefit of the entire population.
