The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST) took the opportunity to address families, workers, and laborers in the Far North region to reassure them of the firm support of the Government led by Alix Didier FILS-AMÉ, through targeted subsidies. He affirmed that a budget of 7.405 billion gourdes has already been allocated to support the most vulnerable and strengthen social protection, along with the allocation of direct financial assistance of 5,000 gourdes per worker to textile sector employees, granted by the FAES.
For his part, the Director General of EPPLS, Rony Charles, welcoming these strategic measures by the government for social protection, called for the population's cooperation in improving the management of the villages and social housing made available to them. To this end, a supervisory committee composed of nine young professional trainees has been established with the mission of monitoring infrastructure management and maintaining cleanliness standards. Letters of commitment were officially presented to these young people.
Indeed, created by decree on November 26, 1982, the Public Enterprise for the Promotion of Social Housing (EPPLS) has already built nearly 1,174 housing units in the Northeast, demonstrating the State's ongoing commitment to ensuring the well-being of the population.
Furthermore, Mr. Nelson announced the construction of a thousand housing units in the far north. This initiative aims to address the critical shortage in this sector. These 1,000 housing units will be financed by international organizations and intended for low-income households.
On an official visit to the north of the country since Friday, April 24, the Minister of Social Affairs plans to travel to the far south starting next week, continuing his efforts to provide concrete government assistance to the most vulnerable families.
