This meeting, attended by various representatives of stakeholders and relevant bodies, aimed primarily to assess the major constraints hindering the release of the airport land, in order to ensure the viability of the rehabilitation project.
To swiftly address the identified challenges, a multi-sectoral monitoring committee was established. Under the authority of the AIASC coordinator, this body is responsible for leading and accelerating the expropriation process. It will monitor operations and ensure coordination with local authorities and the Haitian National Police (PNH) to guarantee the security and proper execution of interventions.
The initial priority measures focus on the immediate release of already available land and the diligent processing of remaining cases, all under the direct supervision of the newly created committee.
The Minister took this opportunity to raise awareness among stakeholders about the vital importance of this project, which will serve nearly four departments and constitute a true hub for economic development in the region.
In conclusion, the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC) called on landowners for their open and active cooperation in advancing the expropriation process. The goal is to transform current resistance into a solid consensus, finally enabling the modernization of this essential airport infrastructure.
